Miniature nonya kueh

If you love miniature kueh, I think below are some of the kueh you can try, they are quite easy to make.

there are paos, ang ku kueh, rice kueh, and egg tarts.they are all made with clay

note: apply varnish when the clay totally dried,(and also not too much)  or not you will not see the lines that  I have cut on top of the kueh

below is done by one of the student, not much different from mine, right? step by step you can make it! ( varnish not applied yet) the lines of the kueh are clearly seen.

Miniature Dim Sum Lover

When talking  about dim sum, what comes  first in your mind? for me , is 烧卖 (siew mai) , I don't really like to eat dim sum very much but I love to make this tiny little miniature food with clay. Look at the one below.

I arranged them nicely on my handmade wooden tray. I have made two altogether , one is at PS for sale and the other is my sample for my intermediate class students.

This beautiful miniature dim sum set is made with clay.

miniature popiah

Do you love popiah?( spring roll) I love very much. I have made one before but not very good. This is the second time I try, better than before. Hope you like it.

I eat popiah without chill so the one I made before is plain without chilli, than a friend said that , when she think of popiah is  bright red chilli with a good mix fresh vegetable; so I added chilli this time. Thanks Eunice.

Miniature standing doll

Below showed a wawa (standing doll) made by my student. She made her own image, very well done as this is her first time making a doll.

Frankly speaking, making a standing doll or 2D wawa is much much difficult than making miniature food. What she did is the simplest form (near to the cartoon character types)
Before  using Japanese clay to make this standing doll, a lesson of using paper clay is required because  you can  learn the skill easily with paper clay.

Below is the one I made for a customer.

miniature roti prata

It looks simple and easy to make this mini roti prata but I tried many times in order to get the right colour and the surface .

I think I can still make the curry better.

Ba Zang festival (端午节)

Today, 6th of June (lunar calender 5th May) is Dumpling Festival (or Dragon Boat Festival) or (端午节), so, I made some dumplings for all of you. Hope you like it. Happy Dumpling Festival! :D

I use the real ba zang leaves to make, so  after some time (actually quite  long ) the colour will turn a bit yellowish , but it still look nice.

the one below is slightly bigger than the bottom 2 pictures

the above and below picture show my handmade super tiny dumpling  for a customer, as she requested any tiny as possible, this is the smallest I can make, it is so difficult to wrap a super tiny ba zang! (beside the ba zang  is a 5cent coin)

Miniature Gift Box

I did this miniature gift box contains 6 pieces of  cake recently.

In order to decorate and beautify you creations, all the handmade miniature items must make according to the size of box and the colours you used must match with each others. This may take up some time to do.

I used red colour for my mini box because in Chinese traditional custom,  red symbolizes good luck .

You can change the contents to other things such as kueh,  biscuits cupcakes etc.

I made some dividers  so that everything inside the box is nicely arranged

These are not selected for the gift box because of the size and colour . I will use them for other purposes.
