1st miniature mee poh

I think I am the first one who make the miniature mee poh in Singapore( If I am wrong, I am sorry for that) because before I started to make the miniature mee poh, I have searched for it for quite a long time but couldn't find it, so I decided to make my own miniature  mee poh.

Below is the the first student who learned it from me, she is the 1st student who made this miniature mee poh beside me. She did it quite well but still need more practice in order to make a perfect one. She is a capable and busy lady and yet she comes to learn every Sunday (unless she got job or I am busy)

So my dear friends, step by step , be patience! Passion  and Patience are the 2 keys to make a good miniature work, of course, concentrate on the object when doing also lead you to a perfect master piece....

Thanks to those who made clay so that I can make so many lovely things. I love all miniatures ! Thanks to clay and everything that makes my miniature's world so wonderful! Let's have fun together with clay!

The 1st mee poh learned from me. The size is about 4.5cm in diameter

She got the right and nice colour for this dish.

she did the fish ball noodles soup last lesson

PS: she already finished her intermediate course (you can also visit her blog: Miss tamchiak , a local food blogger. )

My Mini DIY Mee ear-rings

I have tried to make  ear-rings using my handmade mini mee poh.

I used the super mini bowl, which is smaller than a five cent coin for this pair of ear-rings.

I also used different types of mini bowl for my handmade mee poh ear rings.Hope you like them! (sorry, the pictures taken are so blur! it is too small, I cannot focus well, so sorry)

Miniature clay food: Huat Kueh & pao

There are many miniature clay paos on the table, so cute and real, like to have one?  did you know when pao meet huat kueh is meant pao huat (包 发)? and do you know when a pao cut into half means? “包开” and do you know “包粽”(中)means?

(人的想象力非常丰富,若没有包开,包中,包发,请不要怪我。Don't blame me when nothing happens!)  But I believe in  praying.

I like to  make pao because I think because it is one of the simplest miniature creations but be careful, not to make dirty them as they must be totally white.

Miniature nonya kueh

If you love miniature kueh, I think below are some of the kueh you can try, they are quite easy to make.

there are paos, ang ku kueh, rice kueh, and egg tarts.they are all made with clay

note: apply varnish when the clay totally dried,(and also not too much)  or not you will not see the lines that  I have cut on top of the kueh

below is done by one of the student, not much different from mine, right? step by step you can make it! ( varnish not applied yet) the lines of the kueh are clearly seen.

Miniature Dim Sum Lover

When talking  about dim sum, what comes  first in your mind? for me , is 烧卖 (siew mai) , I don't really like to eat dim sum very much but I love to make this tiny little miniature food with clay. Look at the one below.

I arranged them nicely on my handmade wooden tray. I have made two altogether , one is at PS for sale and the other is my sample for my intermediate class students.

This beautiful miniature dim sum set is made with clay.

miniature popiah

Do you love popiah?( spring roll) I love very much. I have made one before but not very good. This is the second time I try, better than before. Hope you like it.

I eat popiah without chill so the one I made before is plain without chilli, than a friend said that , when she think of popiah is  bright red chilli with a good mix fresh vegetable; so I added chilli this time. Thanks Eunice.

Miniature standing doll

Below showed a wawa (standing doll) made by my student. She made her own image, very well done as this is her first time making a doll.

Frankly speaking, making a standing doll or 2D wawa is much much difficult than making miniature food. What she did is the simplest form (near to the cartoon character types)
Before  using Japanese clay to make this standing doll, a lesson of using paper clay is required because  you can  learn the skill easily with paper clay.

Below is the one I made for a customer.

It looks simple and easy to make this mini roti prata but I tried many times in order to get the right colour and the surface .

I think I can still make the curry better.

Ba Zang festival (端午节)

Today, 6th of June (lunar calender 5th May) is Dumpling Festival (or Dragon Boat Festival) or (端午节), so, I made some dumplings for all of you. Hope you like it. Happy Dumpling Festival! :D

I use the real ba zang leaves to make, so  after some time (actually quite  long ) the colour will turn a bit yellowish , but it still look nice.

the one below is slightly bigger than the bottom 2 pictures

the above and below picture show my handmade super tiny dumpling  for a customer, as she requested any tiny as possible, this is the smallest I can make, it is so difficult to wrap a super tiny ba zang! (beside the ba zang  is a 5cent coin)

Miniature Gift Box

I did this miniature gift box contains 6 pieces of  cake recently.

In order to decorate and beautify you creations, all the handmade miniature items must make according to the size of box and the colours you used must match with each others. This may take up some time to do.

I used red colour for my mini box because in Chinese traditional custom,  red symbolizes good luck .

You can change the contents to other things such as kueh,  biscuits cupcakes etc.

I made some dividers  so that everything inside the box is nicely arranged

These are not selected for the gift box because of the size and colour . I will use them for other purposes.
