For the last day of June, I would like to introduce my little workshop located in /chinatown Pagoda st.

             

My showcases with all my hand-made miniatures , for sale.

                                                                                                       

This is the place that I and my students having fun time!

Children miniature courses

They are brother and sister . They helped each other during their miniature lesson.

If your children or you are unable to attain 2 lessons, just combine them into 1 (take longer hours) 

 I will teach them to make their favourite food like donuts, cakes, burgers & rice  etc. The 3nd lesson for children miniature courses is to let them turn their favourite food into key-chains or brooches.

Miniature fruit stall

K has finally finished her mini fruit stall, a little bit different from mine but it is very well done.

When you have finsihed everythings you want, arrange them nicely and place them at the stall. Just like this.......Hope you like this miniature fruit stall.

                                                                             

Miniature afternoon tea

Eng has made her afternoon tea for her last lesson. The mini layer plates look easy to make but you need some skill to let it stand properly. I would like to try to make 3 layers next time so that  I can place more delicious cakes and pastries onto it.

When preparing the fruits for the miniature fruit stall you have to be aware of the scale. Remember, not to big nor too small.

First make some miniature basket and containers such as boxes , than your favourite fruits like oranges, apples, watermelon and etc..  I have made durians , apples, oranges, watermelon , banana , pumpkin & persimmon (柿子) To be contuinue ..................

                                                

Nonya kueh

I love nonya kueh very much. I think may be is because of the coconut. I will always choose somthings with coconut cos I love coconut! No matter how full I am if I see the coconut nonya kueh infornt of me, I will finish it and yummy......yummmy......and I only eat ang ku kueh with coconut & peanuts!  Here comes my hand-made nonya kueh.......in miniature.

Mini bear's wedding.

J has completed her doll house at last. A very cute little pinky house with miniature 3 layers wedding cake . I love it so much , what about you? 

 The house is about 14cm x 15 cm and below are some of the steps for making this miniature doll house.

Miniature fish soup

I went to a food court nearby my house yesterday and had a bowl of fried fish soup with thick bee hoon for my lunch. While I was eating my thick bee hoon an idea flashed into my mind. Yes I am going to make this into miniature. So here are my 2 bowls of thick bee hoon with fish soup.

Happy Vesak Day

Today is Vesak Day.

Vesak Day is a day commemorating the Birth, Enlightenment and Death of Buddha .... I have made many stupas for the past few years...... My own way to show my respect to Buddha.....my little offering to Him.....
My skill wasn't so good as you can see from the pictures but I really enjoyed making of stupas . I have made a lot of design but mostly copied from the the real stupa. (make them into miniature size) I used paper clay and I didn't colour them except the golden stupa I also didn't use any vanish to proctect them but you see, they can last for so many years....

Sweet Heart

This is her 3rd piece of art work. Very well done.

Toppings

You can make use beads, art sand, paints, handmade fruits and etc... for your topping of a cake or pastries. But sometimes you can't get what your want eg peanut. So I have made some of my own topping eg peanut & rainbow icing. Try to think some other things that can use for your icing......brainstorming.......er.....

Miniature Hor fun & kueh

Using Japanese air dry clay is much more easier than using paper clay. This is true, but for certain items I think paper clay will make the outlook more realistic for example a basket.

2 Lessons at a time

Eng had finished 2 items in a lesson. She is the first student who did that. She did quite fast as she got practise at home after lesson. She has improved a lot in her colouring. Well done!

Mini Fruit basket (using paper clay)

Kan has added a handle to her paper clay fruit basket, the basket looks great different with and without handle

             This fruit basket was made of paper clay, with and without handle. ( this was done 2 years ago)

Make use of your miniature creations

You can have fun ideas on your handmade miniature dolls, cakes, animals etc. some examples :

I used paper clay did all these some of them I keep it for more than 5 yerars and it still in good condition. How long can your paper clay creations last? it all depand on the moment you make it. Let it dries completely before you paint  and  I think this is very important step.

 As time is limited in class so I have to paint when it is only half dried.
I always tell my students to parctise at home and paint after it completely dried. You will find the different .
