Happy Anniversary

On the last day of the month August  2013, I would like to share the photos with you on the day I spent with  this sweet and happy couple.  They  celebrated their 2nd anniversary by having a miniature clay lesson with me. This was the first time M & J  making miniature food .  We had a great time and I knew that both of them were very happy and satisfied with their master pieces.

Handmade Miniature Bento Box

After making your miniature food , you need some mini containers to place them, this include mini plates, bowls, trays, boxes, steamers.....etc. You can buy them online or do it yourself. For me, I like to make my own boxes, tray and others,  although it consumes a lot of time to just make one bento box but I enjoy making it.

Below showed my handmade mini bento/Japanese lunch box that I made recently. I can  design my box and use the colour I like and the size I want. Try it yourself!

The size that I made for these 2 mini boxes is bigger than the normal mini boxes that you often see online.

It is very easy to make, just use some wood , cut and join them together. You need to have some patience  to hold the wood when joining them.

I will use them on my miniature clay making food lessons to place the Japanese style food in my intermediate courses.  The picture above showed, is done by one of my senior students.

Miniature Beer & Wine Bottle

It is not easy to handmake a miniature item that both size must be the same shape and  size, eg a bottle or  a pot.

I have handmade these beer and wine bottles , trying very hard to balance them, shape them many times in order to make the both size the same.

These are all my handmade miniature clay bottles.  They look very cute on a mini table.

As they are very very mini, I really cannot make a super mini cap for them!! Try a better cap next time.

From my hand, you can see how small they are.  

The shape of the wine bottle is a bit different from a beer bottle, did you notice?  Well, I know you can buy a machine made wine bottle easily, but I like to handmade my own bottles as I can have my own design on my bottle.

Miniature Dim Sum Push Cart

I have made so many dim sum for myself and now I am going to make a stall for them.  Below showed my dim sum push cart and a mini table for 2.

I used a ready- made push cart because I have no more energy to handmade a push cart after making all these dim sum.

Put all my handmade dis sum on the push cart and it really looks good.

I used a mini wooden table and chair that I bought online.

These are my handmade dis sum, not for eating ,for display only. Miniature Art  work is really very  very fun . You can create whatever you want!

To All Dim Sum Lovers

I teach my students how to make dim sum at my 2nd lesson of my basic miniature clay food making course. I teach them to make a simple steamer and some common dim sum like siew mai and paos. If you can buy the ready made  mini dim sum steamer, the food inside will even look real.

These fake dim sum are very small about the size of the new 50 cent coin, it's not for eating! Just for Fun and I will keep it for myself. I really love them.

I really use quite some time to finish all these miniature clay dim sum, especially the " lotus rice " and "chicken legs".

Pick the one you like , just like you go to the restaurant and choose the one you like most.

Miniature Basket of Vegetables

Welcome to the fresh mini vegetables's world.    Veggie, veggie, only veggie in my mini basket. This miniature basket of vegetables is for all veggie lovers. Tomato ,  corn, pumpkin, cabbage, garlic, mushroom, capsicum, cauliflower and carrot

To celebrate Singapore 48th birthday, I have made this miniature clay cake for her.

Miniature Satay vs Miniature Steak

I like to make fake food especially the popular local dishes.  I have made a plate of miniature satay recently . Satay is one of the most popular choices among tourists when they are in Singapore,  it is a small bite -sized pieces of chicken, mutton  or beef steeped in a sweet -spicy sauce; if you prefer a big cut of meat , than a steak, pork chop or chicken chop will suit your taste.

I have made 2 bowl of miniature fake salad to go with the fake meat. 

The photo is not so well focus but hope you like it. I love the real satay too!

The 2 mini salad look very colourful and delicious.

My little Mixed Rice Stall (杂菜饭档）

With a little bit of creative idea, I make use of the wooden stand which I did not use for  long time,  turn it into a mini mixed rice stall. It is quite easy to make the wooden stand, or you can buy one online.

These are my favourite food , curry chicken, fried fish, do fu , veggie and egg.

I did not make a big quantity of the food  but it will look much nicer if you filled up the "square" (shelves) with more food.
